The museums we visited were great, and getting to see a number of works which I’ve studied was meaningful, especially at Musée d’Orsay.  Édouard Manet’s Olympia and The Luncheon on the Grass were more amazing that I expected, and very large in scale, which I knew scholastically but couldn’t appreciate until I saw them.  There were so many other works by Monet, Cézanne, Renior, Courbet, Van Gogh, and Seurat that I recognized and admired, I couldn’t list them all.  It really was like standing inside the text for The History of Modern Art with Leslie Sutcliffe.  I was able to appreciate all of the work on display much more than I would have before having taken her class, and learning about them made it so interesting!
